A couple of weeks ago I had the sheer pleasure of crafting the cover image for Pooler Magazine of celebrity hairstylist, Dennis Stokely. Dennis knows his way around a studio set. Having been on more shoots than I could count I was schooled people – schooled! Though I was the master mind behind the lighting and scene, Dennis took lead on the camera angle and pose. We were a duo that danced a snazzy dance. Next week I’ll share more images from Josh Reddick‘s session for the Effingham Magazine. Hugs! Alicja
Today I had the joy of discovering new communities that made me feel instantly at home. One, in South Carolina, was a horse-driven development where it boasted miles upon miles of horse trails. The other, Kate’s Cove in Rincon, is quiet yet beautiful. I stepped out of the car gazing upon grand homes with beautiful detailing. Mr. Freddie Long, of LongBuilders escorted me to two of their favorite homes they’ve developed and built. During the car ride I learned that LongBuilders is now in it’s third generation of family owners. How Mr. Freddie has a mind like an elephant and remembers all the details and intricacies of all his current projects, while his son is more inclined towards calendars :) Another neat fact is LongBuilders was started by Mr. Freddie’s father who completed up to third grade and now Mr. Freddie’s son, with a degree from GA Tech, is co-owning the business with him. I’m excited about the next chapter of LongBuiders. They hired a marvelous design and development firm, Focus Lab to create a site for them. The site needed images of recent homes, to which Focus referred me. Below are my favorites. I’m eager to see which ones get selected for LongBuilders’ site.
If you’ve spent any time on Taken’s Facebook page, you’d know that I’m a big fan of Glaze: Salon, Bar, & Spa. In mid-January we had a hoot shooting some images for Effingham Magazine’s next edition. Having shot some fab Glaze stylists’ portraits using a blue hair light. I knew that I wanted to mimic the look, but add contrast by using orange. Paula, owner of Glaze and Milano, had the idea for the beautiful model, Olivia, to wear a blue prom dress. I tell ya – when Paula and I work together great things happen! Following are some of the other shots we crafted but weren’t used in the ad. Here’s a close up of the one from the ad. Pick up Effingham Magazine and check it out! I love it! Also, in other Effingham Magazine news…. I may be shooting for them soon. Exciting! xoxo,
When another photographer trusts you with her portraits, it’s both an honor and stress-ball.
Last week I had the sheer pleasure of crafting some swank images for Miss Bray, hairstylist extraordinaire
I don’t get to play with gear often, but when I do it’s always fun
I wasn’t feeling sexy or chic… thanks to being 4 months preggo. But the ladies in front of my lens certainly did!
There is a bounty of beautiful Savannah venues. First up to share is the Trustee’s Garden. The location of one of my Savannah-area Taken bride’s reception
